Northern Trust Palm Beach Gardens
Obituary
Phillip Alden Woodall, 74, of Palm Beach Gardens, entered Heaven on March 30, 2022. Phil was born January 31, 1948, at St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach to Donald and Helen Woodall.
Phil leaves behind his wife Patti (to whom he'd been married eighty-seven days shy of 50 years); his only child, Janan; son-in-law, Doug Hodges, and two grandsons, Tyler and Tucker. He is also survived by his siblings, Don (Anne) Woodall, and Barbara (Rob) Betteker, sister-in-law Cathi (Curtis) Fitzgerald, nieces and nephews, extended family, and many beloved friends and associates.
Phil served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Nashville, TN, and Las Vegas, NV. After his service, Phil received an Associate's Degree from Palm Beach State College in business and banking. He was a local banker in Palm Beach County for a combined 45 years at Grand Bank & Trust, Palm Beach National Bank, Florida National Bank, Flagler National Bank and First Marine Bank where he began his banking career. He was an active member of The Jupiter/Tequesta Rotary Club and served two terms as President of The Rotary Club of the Northern Palm Beaches. On a daily basis, Phil demonstrated the Rotary motto of "Service Above Self." He was a Christian gentleman who was a member of local churches serving as deacon, usher, offering teller, and finance committee member.
In his retirement, Phil volunteered at Jupiter Medical Center on a weekly basis as greeter, member of Pastoral Care Team, and driver in the Motor Aid Department. He served on committees and the Jupiter Medical Auxiliary Board. In his six years there, he accumulated over 2,500 hours of service. He enjoyed seeing many families and friends when he volunteered. Phil also worked part-time at Dignity Memorial as a Funeral Attendant where he greeted guests, assisted with visitation and was an attendant at funeral and graveside services. Phil felt honored to assist and comfort families as they laid their loved ones to rest and took great pride in working for Dignity.
In his leisure time, he and Patti enjoyed taking cruises, land tours, and short trips. Their favorites were a cruise of the Mediterranean and a land tour of Ireland. Phil's happiest place was The Cove in Asheville, NC.
Phil loved being "Grady" to his grandsons and spent many hours with them at PGA Park, the Gardens Mall, and searching for treasures in thrift stores.
Phil loved people and had a servant's heart. His personal ministry was writing cards – birthday, anniversary, "Thank You", Thanksgiving, Christmas, encouragement and congratulations. He was a humble man and never sought attention for his actions.
A celebration of Phil's life will be held at Aycock-Riverside Funeral Home in Jupiter, FL at 6 pm on Saturday, April 9, 2022 with visitation from 4:30 -6:00 pm. The service will also be live-streamed. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Phil's memory may be made to the Samaritan's Purse at Samaritanspurse.org.
